Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon, Kyle Arrington, Tavon WilsonFOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady’s absence from practice didn’t seem to send shock waves through the New England Patriots locker room.

Safety Devin McCourty, in particular, was unfazed that the greatest player to ever wear a Patriots uniform was absent from Thursday’s session. Brady’s red practice jersey still hung in his locker unworn, indicating that the QB missed all of practice, not just the portion open to the media.

“Practice is practice,” McCourty said smiling at his locker Thursday. “I mean, I’ve been here now five years, it’s not the first time that he hasn’t been out there at practice. Practice still goes on, even without Tom.”

We’ll find out Thursday at 5:30 p.m., when the Patriots release their injury report, why Brady missed practice, but it seems like there’s no reason to panic.

UPDATE (4:50 p.m.): The Patriots released their injury a bit early and revealed that Brady missed practice because of a calf injury.
