The Minnesota Wild have agreed to a three-year contract with restricted free agent forward Nino Niederreiter, the team announced Thursday.
Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported via a source that the deal is worth $8 million.
Niederreiter tallied 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists) in 81 games last season, then impressed with six points (three goals, three assists) in 13 games during the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs. He scored the series-winning goal in overtime of Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche to send the Wild to Round 2.
The 22-year-old winger was the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NHL draft by the New York Islanders. The Wild acquired Niederreiter from the Islanders via trade before the 2013-14 campaign.
