Mikhail ProkhorovThe ownership groups of the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in “ongoing discussions” for a “combination of assets” in a potential sale of the team, according to NetsDaily.

Mikhail Prokhorov, the majority owner of the Nets, would retain control of the team if the deal goes through with the Dodgers’ ownership group, Guggenheim Sports, NetsDaily reports, and Prokhorov would also be able to parlay some of his assets into cash.

Prokhorov, who owns 80 percent of the Nets, bought the team for $223 million in cash four years ago. In the combination of assets discussions with the Dodgers, the Nets have been valued at $1.7 billion, while the Barclays Center has been set at $1.1 billion.

It’s uncertain whether the Nets ownership would have a role within the Dodgers or how much of the team Guggenheim Sports would actually control.

However, talks are reportedly continuing, as they have been for months, as both sides seek a principle agreement with no specific deadline.
