Julian Edelman: Tom Brady Doesn’t Have Time For My College Highlight Reels

FOXBORO, Mass. — Julian Edelman believes he could teach Tom Brady a thing or two about being a scrambling quarterback. Unfortunately, Brady hasn’t shown his friend the time of day.

Brady has said multiple times this season that he’s working on his mobility and ability to extend plays. The New England Patriots quarterback even said Wednesday that he wishes he had some of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck’s physical tools.

Edelman, who rushed for 2,483 yards in three seasons as a Kent State quarterback, would be happy to show Brady some of his highlight runs.

“You have to ask him that, because I tell him probably three times a day,” Edelman joked in the Patriots locker room. “I try to get him to sit and look on my phone at a highlight film, but he usually just doesn’t have time for my little videos. He’s a busy guy, I guess. That’s what happens when you’re married with three kids — and being a quarterback.”

Edelman completed 385 of 706 career passes at Kent State for 4,997 yards with 30 touchdowns and 31 interceptions, but he’s never attempted a pass with the Patriots, which is only slightly odd given offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels’ propensity for trick plays. Edelman has done almost everything else, from running the football, playing special teams and even lining up at nickel cornerback in 2011.

Edelman is still holding out hope that one day he’ll get the call to show off his arm with the Patriots.

“I don’t know. I don’t know,” Edelman said. “I’m hoping. No. You’re going to have to ask coach on that. He’ll let you know.”

Of course he will. Belichick is usually so open to talk about game plans.

Edelman, who always is quick to praise his quarterback, dismissed Brady’s jealousy of Luck’s legs.

“I’ll tell you right now, I like my quarterback,” Edelman said. “I’ll leave it at that.”

What would an Edelman-run offense look like, though? Here are the clips that Edelman is trying to show Brady daily:
