Josh Reddick just needed to have a little faith in his general manager.

The Oakland Athletics have made some head-scratching moves this offseason, most notably trading their star, Josh Donaldson, to the Toronto Blue Jays on Nov. 28. Like the rest of the baseball world, Reddick was confused by the trade, but he took his doubt a step further by openly criticizing his ballclub, stating publicly that his team was clearly in rebuilding mode.

Of course, Billy Beane continued to overhaul his roster as the offseason continued, trading Jeff Samardzija, Brandon Moss and Derek Norris soon after, but on Saturday the GM made a move that might have gotten Reddick back on his side.

The A’s shored up their middle infield by acquiring Ben Zobrist and Yunel Escobar from the Tampa Bay Rays for catcher John Jaso and a pair of prospects, and suddenly everything made sense to Reddick.
