Isaiah Thomas’ tenure with the Boston Celtics is off to a good start, and the league has noticed.

Just eight days after donning green for the first time, Thomas was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday. The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 22.0 points and 6.5 assists per game during the week, while leading the Celtics to a 3-1 record.

Thomas’ single most impressive effort came in Boston’s 106-98 win over the Charlotte Hornets, when he scored a season-high 28 points and dealt out seven assists.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was the Western Conference player of the week.

Thomas came to Boston as part of a three-team trade deadline deal with the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons. Despite being ejected in his first appearance with the Celtics, Thomas has come through as advertised on the court, as evidenced by this award.
