Brock Holt just needs a glove, playing time and a few opportunities.

Holt has a knack for making defensive plays regardless of where he’s stationed on the diamond. The Boston Red Sox’s versatile utility man started Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers in left field with Hanley Ramirez serving as the designated hitter, and he wasted little time in leaving his mark.

Holt made a terrific sliding catch in foul territory with the Red Sox trailing 2-0 in the third inning. The ball nearly touched the dirt, but Holt’s snowcone grab retired Shin-Soo Choo and ended the frame.

Boston ultimately lost the contest 7-4, as Josh Hamilton launched two homers off Steven Wright. Holt’s energy continues to be a positive for the struggling Red Sox, though. He simply gets things done.
