Cardale Jones couldn’t wait until next year’s April Fools’ Day. So he just made up his own pranking holiday.
The Ohio State freshman quarterback, who led the Buckeyes to a national championship in January, interrupted everyone’s quiet Friday afternoon with a series of shocking tweets suggesting he’s transferring to the University of Akron.

Jones even changed his Twitter background and avatar to the Zips’ mascot and school colors.
This would be pretty huge news but not out of the realm of possibility, as Jones will have to battle Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett for Ohio State’s starting QB job next season. Naturally, Jones’ tweets created all sorts of panic, but one savvy follower was on to him.

Sure enough, about 10 minutes after his original tweet, Jones caved.

Ah, the old “May Fools” prank. Classic.
Apparently a lot of people weren’t too happy with having their legs pulled, however, forcing Jones to do a little damage control.
