It’s now a waiting game for David Ortiz.

The Boston Red Sox designated hitter reportedly had his suspension appeal heard by Major League Baseball on Monday, a source told WEEI’s Rob Bradford. The ruling is expected to come in a couple of days.

Ortiz was ejected from the Red Sox’s April 19 game against the Baltimore Orioles for arguing check-swing calls with third base umpire Jerry Meals and later was suspended one game for making contact with home plate umpire John Tumpane. Bradford reported that the hearing lasted nearly two hours, and Ortiz’s dugout phone-smashing incident at Camden Yards in 2013 was brought up.

Ortiz told Bradford last week that he doesn’t remember touching Tumpane.

“I have to watch that video to see what point I touched him because I don’€™€™€™t remember, to be honest with you,” Ortiz said. “I don’€™€™€™t really remember. And I wasn’€™€™€™t even arguing with him. I was talking with the third base umpire. If it happened, I don’€™€™€™t know when it happened and I didn’€™€™€™t try that because trust me, I know. It might be one move that I made or whatever. But I don’€™€™€™t know.”
