The New England Patriots reportedly are among the NFL teams showing interest in undrafted offensive tackle La’el Collins.

The Patriots have “reached out” to Collins, The Advocate’s Nick Underhill and Ross Dellenger reported Tuesday. The Patriots are “very interested,” multiple sources told The Advocate. “Nearly every NFL team” has contacted Collins, according to The Advocate.

Collins went undrafted after he was questioned by police in the death of a pregnant woman with whom the LSU offensive tackle might have had a relationship. Collins was expected to be a first-round draft choice before the murder, in which Collins currently is not a suspect.

Collins played offensive tackle and guard at LSU. The Patriots drafted two guards in the 2015 NFL draft.

Collins likely will have to be fully cleared by police before he’s signed by an NFL team, especially the Patriots. It’s possible NFL teams are reaching out to the rookie free agent to find out more information on the case.
