Giancarlo Stanton Still Mean To Baseballs, Crushes One 484 Feet (Video)

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Giancarlo Stanton crushed a titanic home run at Marlins Park that traveled an estimated 484 feet.

In fact, if you’ve followed baseball this season, you have heard that one before.

Only two major league home runs have traveled that distance this season. Both have come off Stanton’s bat.

The Miami Marlins slugger’s latest display of stupid pop came Tuesday night, with Miami hosting the St. Louis Cardinals. Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez left a first-inning slider out over the plate — missing the spot set up by catcher Yadier Molina — and Stanton made him pay, skying the ball over the left-center field fence for his major league-leading 26th homer of the season.

The Marlins own the third-worst record in baseball — they lost to the Cards 4-3 to fall to 30-42 on the season — so Stanton single-handedly is giving folks in Miami a reason to watch their team.
