The Boston Celtics used the No. 6 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft on Marcus Smart, but it sounds like they’re more than willing to ship him away after only one season.

The 2015 NBA Draft is upon us, and rumors are flying. Surprisingly, Smart’s name keeps popping up in reported trade talks, as the Celtics seem hellbent on trying to move up in the first round.

ESPN’s Marc Stein tweeted Thursday afternoon that there were “whispers” the Celtics were willing to move Smart if they could move up into the high lottery. Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times reported shortly after, citing a source, that the Indiana Pacers could be a team with interest in Smart. The Pacers have the 11th pick, and Woelfel indicated Indiana as “a potential landing spot.”

The Los Angeles Times reported earlier in the week that Smart was part of a package the Celtics offered to the Philadelphia 76ers. According to the report, Smart was part of a package the Celtics offered with hopes of moving up to get the No. 3 pick and Nerlens Noel from the Sixers.

However, The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach cautioned that Boston would “have to be blown away” by a trade package to move Smart.

The clock is ticking, however, with the NBA draft set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
