Office coffee runs are an American work staple, and the St. Louis Cardinals put a new twist on that Tuesday morning.

The Cardinals were getting set to play a day-night double-header against the Chicago Cubs, so naturally they needed a little extra bit of caffeine. There’s a Starbucks right across the street from Wrigley Field. A coffee run made sense.

Normally, you’d expect big league players to send clubhouse guys out to get the coffee. On this day, however, the Cardinals decided to send some of the team’s rookies — in full uniform. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, rookies Marcus Hatley, Miguel Socolovich and Mitch Harris made the java jaunt alongside bullpen catcher Keininger Teran. In all, they picked up more than a dozen orders, according to the Post-Dispatch.

Below are a couple of photos of the expedition from Post-Dispatch reporter Derrick Goold.
