Lolo Jones: I Can Last Longer Vs. Ronda Rousey Than Bethe Correia Did

Lolo Jones is not a fighter — she admits that much herself. But in the wake of Ronda Rousey’s devastating 34-second knockout of Bethe Correia on Saturday at UFC 190, Jones believes she could last at least 26 seconds longer.

Jones has a great point. We’d take a couple hundred thousand (million?) dollars to get knocked out by Ronda Rousey, too.

Jones probably stands a better chance, though — she owns the world record in the 60 meter hurdles at 7.72 seconds. Jones also competes on the U.S. Olympic bobsledding team, which gives her another distinct advantage: She’s used to gaining and dropping weight for different events. Jones competes at nearly 30 pounds heavier when bobsledding than she does while running.

While Jones probably is joking, it’s not the worst strategy — boxer Floyd Mayweather is infamous for his “defensive” techniques in which he constantly retreats and tires his opponent by letting him follow him around the ring round after round before eventually delivering the knockout blows.

In a world where Rousey quickly annihilates any and all competition, this match would actually be interesting.
