FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots training camp took a backseat for Tom Brady on Tuesday.

The Patriots quarterback didn’t participate in practice after Judge Richard Berman told the NFL and NFL Players Association to try to settle Brady’s Deflategate suspension dispute before Wednesday morning’s arbitration meeting.

Wide receiver Brandon LaFell, running backs Tyler Gaffney and Travaris Cadet, linebacker Dane Fletcher, offensive linemen Marcus Cannon, Bryan Stork, Ryan Wendell, Caylin Hauptmann and Nate Solder, defensive linemen Joe Vellano and Chris Jones, and tight ends Jake Bequette and Scott Chandler also didn’t participate in practice.

Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson were spotted in pads during warmups but left the practice field before contact began. Running back Dion Lewis and linebacker Eric Martin wore jerseys but no pads and also left the field after warmups.

Running back LeGarrette Blount and linebacker Darius Fleming were back in pads Tuesday. Blount left the field midway through practice and wasn’t joined by trainers.
