The Miami Dolphins made another coaching change.

The Dolphins fired defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle on Thursday and promoted defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo to the position. This marks Miami’s second significant coaching change this week, as the Fins fired head coach Joe Philbin on Monday following the team’s Week 4 loss to the New York Jets.

“Lou and I see eye to eye about what we need to do defensively moving forward,” Dan Campbell, the tight ends coach who took over as Miami’s interim head coach after Philbin’s firing, said Thursday, according to The Associated Press. “It’s a move that is going to help us win games.”

Coyle had been with the team for four seasons. He was under a microscope entering this season because of how poorly the Dolphins’ defense played down the stretch last season. Things haven’t improved.

Miami’s defense ranks 30th in the NFL in total yards allowed and 32nd in run defense. The Dolphins also have only one sack amid their 1-3 start despite spending $114 million on four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Anarumo, who was the defensive backs coach with Purdue from 2004 to 2011, has been with the Dolphins since 2012.
