NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is booed almost every time he appears at a game. He knows what kind of reaction that’s coming his way, but he has started to embrace it.

Bettman has made jokes and other gestures to combat the boos in recent years, including a hilarious moment at the 2014 NHL Draft in Philadelphia when he quipped “isn’t this supposed to be the City of Brotherly Love?”

The commissioner was at the United Center in Chicago on Thursday night for the Blackhawks-Rangers game, which was preceded by the ‘Hawks raising their 2015 Stanley Cup champions banner.

During the ceremony, Bettman was one of many people introduced, and he had the best reaction when the boos started to rain down.

You have to give Bettman some credit. He knows the boos are coming, but he still showed up. The same couldn’t be said for the NFL’s commissioner on opening night in Foxboro.
