The Dallas Cowboys historically are one of the top franchises in the NFL, so it’s hard to see any opponent overlooking them.
However, the 2015 Cowboys have lost two games in a row since quarterback Tony Romo suffered a fractured clavicle. Dallas also is without top wideout Dez Bryant and running back Lance Dunbar, who is out for the season after tearing his ACL and MCL.
So if there ever was a time to take the Cowboys lightly, this might be it. But one ex-Patriot says you shouldn’t expect New England to do that this Sunday.
“I don’t think so because it always feels good when you beat up on the Dallas Cowboys, I don’t care who’s wearing the uniforms,” ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi said on WEEI’s “Dale & Holley” on Monday. ” I think the way these players are and the way the Dallas Cowboy mystique — even the way they hold themselves from Jerry Jones all the way down, it’s just a team that you want to beat and you want to beat badly.
“I wouldn’t worry about a letdown. I’m not concerned about the coaching staff and them doing that. I think they can find plenty of threats to use during the meeting hours and during the meetings during the week to get them to know how dangerous they still are.”
The Cowboys may be wounded, but they still have talent, especially at tight end and on their defensive line. That makes them potentially a dangerous team.
“I know they respect that offensive line greatly,” Bruschi said. “It’s easy to watch them on film and say, ‘These guys play well together and they have great individual players all along the line.’ (Jason) Witten’s a guy that also you can always mention about the respect everyone has for him. You don’t think he’ll fight? He’ll fight.
“This is a team I doubt they would look past.”
