Max Talbot is headed back to Providence.

The 31-year-old was sent back to the AHL on Monday after appearing in three games for the Boston Bruins. Talbot originally was recalled after Chris Kelly broke his femur last week, but with youngster Frank Vatrano playing well, Talbot’s on-ice services were not needed.

Talbot spent five days with Boston, playing in three games and recording five shots on net in 27:49 of ice time.

Vatrano scored his first goal of the season against the Montreal Canadiens in Saturday’s 4-2 loss and has registered eight shots in two games.
