Tom Brady’s ability to thrive under pressure can’t be taught.

Donald Trump, who’s good friends with Brady, was asked Monday on FOX Sports 1’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” about the New England Patriots quarterback’s knack for stepping up in big moments. The Republican presidential candidate said it’s a characteristic that comes naturally, and that Brady is right there with legendary golfers Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in terms of rising to the occasion.

“Tom is one of those few people that ends up doing better under pressure. Jack Nicklaus, as an example. Tiger in his prime,” Trump said. “You’re born with it. You’re born with it, you can’t teach it, you’re born with it. They have all sorts of psychoanalysts and everything else. You’re born with it. I’ve seen it over the years. You don’t see it often. It’s very rare. And you’ll see it with the great champions. Tom is one of them.

“You’ll see it with Jack Nicklaus, you’ll see it with certain people where they do better under pressure. There aren’t many of them, Colin, I’ll tell you what. But when you have them, it’s very special to see.”

Brady, who already has four Super Bowl rings, is playing some of the most impressive football of his career at age 38. There’s no denying he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. But Brady’s best qualities have nothing to do with arm strength or accuracy. His leadership is the meal ticket.

And, according to Trump, No. 12 has had impeccable poise since Day 1.
