The New England Patriots reportedly could reunite twins Devin and Jason McCourty.
The Patriots “have interest” in trading for Tennessee Titans cornerback Jason McCourty, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Rapoport noted a deal was not expected at the time of the report. A deal would have to be completed by the NFL trade deadline of 4 p.m. ET Tuesday.
The McCourty brothers were teammates at Rutgers before Jason left school early and was selected in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Titans. Devin was taken in the first round in 2010 by the Patriots. The safety signed a five-year contract to stay with the Patriots this offseason.
Jason has 11 interceptions in 94 games and 76 starts with the Titans. He also has recorded 351 tackles with one sack, six forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.
The Patriots are shallow at cornerback behind starters Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan. They have undrafted rookie Justin Coleman and Rashaan Melvin, who was claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens, as depth.
UPDATE (3:07 p.m. ET): Rapoport tweeted that he was told McCourty is not available.
