Coldplay will headline the Super Bowl 50 halftime show Sunday, with both Beyoncé and Bruno Mars also expected to be involved in some capacity. It’s an interesting choice for the NFL’s biggest stage, but the performance itself will dictate how the selection is viewed years down the road.
Like anything, there have been both good and bad Super Bowl halftime performances over the years. There typically is a theme that coincides with each performance, and those, too, can be hit or miss.
A solid halftime show, however, can provide a perfect bridge into the second half, even if it’s not the primary focus of football fans’ Super Bowl Sunday. And for that, the best shows deserve to be lauded.
