Unrestricted free-agent running back LeGarrette Blount spent his morning interacting with fans on Periscope and revealed how he’s leaning on the open market.

Blount told one New England Patriots fan he’s “trying to be back next year.” Another fan asked if he would be back with the Patriots, and Blount responded, “I hope so.”

Blount had 165 carries for 703 yards with six touchdowns last season with the Patriots. He was placed on injured reserve in December with a hip injury.

Blount originally came to the Patriots in 2013, when New England traded a seventh-round draft pick and Jeff Demps to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 6-foot, 250-pound running back. He left for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014 via free agency but came back to the Patriots on a two-year deal when Pittsburgh released him midway through the season.

Blount has 869 career carries for 3,961 yards with 31 touchdowns in six seasons. He broke into the NFL with the Buccaneers in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon. Blount is one of the top free-agent running backs available along with Doug Martin, Matt Forte, Lamar Miller, Arian Foster, Alfred Morris, Chris Johnson, James Starks and Ronnie Hillman.

The Patriots reportedly have shown interest in signing New York Jets free agent Bilal Powell.
