The New England Patriots agreed to terms on a contract with free-agent running back Donald Brown, FOXSports.com’s Peter Schrager reported Wednesday.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Brown will sign a one-year deal.

Brown, 28, was a 2009 first-round draft pick (27th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts and spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the San Diego Chargers. He has 695 carries for 2,829 yards with 18 touchdowns in his seven-year career. He also has 120 receptions for 1,066 yards with two scores.

Brown had 59 carries for 229 yards with one touchdown and eight receptions for 88 yards last season in San Diego.

The 5-foot-10, 207-pound running back joins Dion Lewis, James White, Brandon Bolden, Joey Iosefa and Tyler Gaffney on the Patriots’ depth chart.
