Jon Lester’s Terrible Throw To First Base Bounces Twice, Somehow Results In Out

For whatever reason, throwing to first base remains Jon Lester’s kryptonite.

Usually the Chicago Cubs left-hander’s first-base issues surround pickoff attempts. But, as Lester proved in Sunday’s 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies, any throw to first base can be an adventure with him.

There’s a lot to unpack here. First, there’s the fact that Lester’s throw to first went right into the ground but somehow managed to bounce twice and beat the batter for the out. And if that’s not incredible enough, the fan shouting, “Oh, no!” in the background completes the video perfectly.

What could have been on blooper reels for years to come actually turned into a, shall we say, unique out. But, hey, an out’s an out.
