Brock Holt was the Boston Red Sox’s lone All-Star during their disappointing 2015 campaign, but that might not be the case this season.
Major League Baseball released its first update for 2016 All-Star fan voting for the American League, and there are plenty of Red Sox in the running. Most notably, Xander Bogaerts is in the lead for AL shortstops, and David Ortiz is almost a lock for the designated hitter vote.

First baseman Hanley Ramirez and second baseman Dustin Pedroia both are in fourth place for their respective positions, while third baseman Travis Shaw and catcher Blake Swihart both sneaked into fifth. Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts also are in the running for the top three outfield spots in fourth and seventh places, respectively.
Of course, it looks as though Kansas City Royals fans already are stuffing the ballot boxes, so Red Sox fans will need to get out and vote if they want to see their favorite players on the field in San Diego. Fans can vote at redsox.com/vote, and it ends Thursday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
