Buster Posey Loses Bat, Which Somehow Gets Stuck High In Protective Netting

Buster Posey made a great argument for protective netting without even trying.

The San Francisco Giants catcher was batting in the first inning of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, when his bat flew out of his hands. But while that’s a fairly common occurrence in baseball, where it landed definitely is not.

Yup, that bat got stuck very high in the protective netting on the third base line at AT&T Park. So high, in fact, that the Giants’ facilities crew needed a ladder to retrieve it.

The delay certainly didn’t bother the Posey or the Giants in the end, though, as they went on to beat the Dodgers 5-4 in the 10th inning on the catcher’s walk-off single.
