FOXBORO, Mass. — Michael Williams exited Wednesday’s New England Patriots practice after suffering an apparent leg injury.

Williams suffered the injury during 7-on-7 drills midway through Day 2 of the Patriots’ mandatory minicamp. He remained down on the field for several moments before walking off under his own power.

The 6-foot-6, 304-pound tight end watched the next few minutes of practice from the sideline before walking toward the exit and leaving the field in the passenger seat of a cart.

Williams, 25, made his NFL debut last season, appearing in 15 games for the Patriots. He primarily was used as a blocker — he was targeted just six times all season and caught three passes for 26 yards — and also has seen time at offensive tackle.

Williams caught two passes from Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on Wednesday before going down.
