NBA Rumors: Victor Oladipo Seeking Max Contract From OKC Thunder

Victor Oladipo hasn’t played a single game for the Oklahoma City Thunder and he’s already seeking a max contract in the near future.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported Tuesday that the young guard is “(for now) seeking the maximum salary, sources say.”

Oladipo, acquired by OKC from the Orlando Magic in the Serge Ibaka trade last month, is a very good defensive player and can play both guard positions. The former second overall draft pick also averaged 16 points per game last season and still has room to grow offensively.

The 24-year-old’s rookie contract expires at the end of the 2016-17 season, but the Thunder would be wise to work out an extension before next summer.

Oladipo looks like an important part of OKC’s present and future success, regardless if Russell Westbrook commits long-term to the franchise.
