Why Patriots’ Duron Harmon Is Struggling To Move On From Super Bowl Loss

Don’t worry, New England Patriots fans, you’re not the only ones still sick over what happened in Super Bowl LII.

The players — especially Duron Harmon — feel your pain.

The Patriots safety did some volunteer work for elementary school students Friday, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. And while the event was a largely upbeat affair, Harmon’s mood was predictably more despondent while talking about his team’s shocking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about that game. I’m pretty sure everybody on our team feels the same way,” Harmon told Reiss. “The only thing you can do is just learn from it — what put us in position to lose that game and how to never do that again.”

Despite the agony, Harmon is doing his best to learn something from what took place in Minnesota.

“The main thing I’ve taken from that game is missed opportunities,” Harmon said. “Not getting off the field on third down. Not marrying up good pressure with good pass coverage. We had opportunities to get off the field, to make plays and tackles, and we didn’t do it.

“You have to realize that the team that makes fewer mistakes is going to win, and they made a little bit less mistakes than us that allowed them to get the win.”

Harmon is right about the Patriots making far more mistakes than the Eagles. Still, you have wonder whether he, like so many New Englanders, believes the biggest mistake made was by head coach Bill Belichick.
