The Dodgers and Blue Jays reportedly made strong pushes for LeMahieu
The New York Yankees reportedly managed to re-sign DJ LeMahieu, but it doesn’t sound like they were without competition.
LeMahieu and the Yankees on Friday reportedly reached a six-year deal worth $90 million. We always knew the Toronto Blue Jays were rumored to be making a run at LeMahieu, and they apparently weren’t alone in their attempt to pry the infielder from New York.
According to baseball reporter Pat Ragazzo, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Blue Jays both made offers to the 32-year-old.
Ultimately, LeMahieu returning always seemed like a foregone conclusion, even if there were stretches when he reportedly grew frustrated with the Yankees’ approach to negotiations.
