Thursday at The Players Championship did not disappoint.
“Golf’s fifth major” started off in an unpredictable manner despite a relatively benign day weather-wise at TPC Sawgrass. There was no shortage of big numbers across the board, as golf balls plunked into the water all over the property but especially at the No. 17 island green.
One player who didn’t have any issue, however, was Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard fired a 7-under 65 to take the lead. Holding that lead on Friday might prove to be difficult, especially if the wind starts blowing.
