Week 8 presented some tough dilemmas for fantasy football owners, and Week 9 won’t get any easier.

Six more NFL teams are on bye in Week 9, including a few fantasy stalwarts like the New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals. That means it’s time to get a head start on your preparations for next weekend, and the first place to look is the waiver wire.

Here are the top waiver wire options at each position for Week 9.

Quarterback: Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers
The QB waiver wire crop is pretty thin this week, but Kaepernick still is widely available after the Niners’ Week 8 bye. His running ability gives him a high floor, and he should find at least some success in the air at home against a New Orleans Saints defense allowing 287 passing yards per game.

Other quarterbacks to pursue: Ryan Tannehill (MIA), Sam Bradford (MIN), Joe Flacco (BAL)

Running Back: Charcandrick West, Kansas City Chiefs
Jamaal Charles is seeing surgeon Dr. James Andrews about his knee, while Spencer Ware left KC’s Week 8 game with a concussion. That leaves West in line for plenty of touches in the Chiefs’ conservative offense in a great home matchup against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.

Other running backs to pursueMike Gillislee (BUF), Rob Kelley (WAS), Tim Hightower (NO), Darren Sproles (PHI)

Wide Receiver: Quincy Enunwa, New York Jets
Enunwa has made the best of a rough QB situation in New York, recording 70-plus receiving yards and a touchdown in back-to-back weeks. He’s very much involved in the passing game with Eric Decker out and gets a favorable matchup in the Miami Dolphins this week.

Other wide receivers to target: Adam Humphries (TB), Kendall Wright (TEN), Jeff Janis (GB)

Tight End: Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions
Ebron returned from injury in Week 8 to rack up seven catches for 79 yards on 10 targets. The matchup isn’t great against a stingy Vikings defense, but Minnesota’s strong pass rush could have Lions QB Matthew Stafford looking often to Ebron as a checkdown option.

Other tight ends to pursue: Vernon Davis (WSH)
