Massachusetts Cruises Past Connecticut 12-1 in Semifinal Action

The Peabody Western Little Leaguers are just one win away from reserving a slot in the Little League World Series tournament in Williamsport.

The Massachusetts representatives eliminated Glastonbury National (Conn.) via mercy rule on Thursday night by a score of 12-1 after just four innings of play.

Matt Hosman hit a three-run home run in the second inning and struck out 10 of the 12 batters he faced. Massachusetts plated eight runs in the fourth inning highlighted by a Sean McGrath two-run double and a Matt Gonick solo home run.

Massachusetts will now face the winner of the Lincoln, R.I., and Brattleboro, Vt., semi in the New England regional finals on Saturday afternoon with the winner earning a spot in the LLWS in Williamsport.
