Infield Dirt Removed As Yankee Stadium Prepared to Host Notre Dame-Army (Photos) The New York Yankees don’t have their franchise shortstop signed to a contract, and they don’t even have an infield.

The dirt at Yankee Stadium has been covered with turf for Saturday’s football game between Army and Notre Dame. It will be the first time football is played in the new venue in the Bronx.

It’s certainly a little strange to see the stadium without an infield, but the Yankees likely made sure to maintain the NY logo behind the plate, which is now behind the end zone.
