Doc Rivers Defends Kevin Garnett Following Recent Criticism of Forward

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has always been known as a player who plays with a ton of intensity. To some, though, that intensity borders on recklessness.

Suns coach Alvin Gentry recently went after Garnett with a couple of verbal daggers, saying that he’s lost a little respect for the future Hall of Famer. Lakers coach Phil Jackson did the same.

Garnett’s coach, Doc Rivers, has heard enough.

“It’s amazing,” Rivers said, according to “That’s fine. I don’t think Kevin cares, one way or another. We sure don’t. When I hear a coach saying anything, ask them if they would trade for them. I have a feeling they’d say, ‘Yeah, we’ll take him right now.'”
