Editor’s note: The 2011-12 NBA season was supposed to tip off Nov. 1. With no games to watch, NESN.com will help fill the void by posting a dunk video every day until the lockout ends.

In hindsight, Larry Bird probably should have just let Dominique Wilkins go. One of the most prolific dunkers of his time, the “The Human Highlight Film” would be not be denied a transition dunk during a Hawks-Celtics game.

After receiving an outlet pass, Wilkins went coast to coast and used two hands to throw the ball down. Bird could only manage to get a hand in Wilkins’ way, but it wasn’t enough. Wilkins drew a foul and Bird sat on the ground, dumbfounded at what had just happened.
