The NBA slam dunk contest is set to take place on Saturday. Unfortunately, 6-foot-2 Gabe York will not be in it.
York, a high school basketball player, threw down a dunk recently that could end up being more impressive than any of the dunks we'll see this weekend. He grabbed an alley-oop pass with one hand before stuffing it through the cylinder.
A senior at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif., York helped lead his team defeat Dana Hills in the first round of the 1A playoffs. The No. 47 recruit on the 2012 Scout.com rankings, York has committed to play at Arizona next season.
York cleared a defender in the process, which surely would have led to 10s across the board had there been official judges on hand.
There were plenty of unofficial judges in the form of fans, though, and York's highlight-reel jam clearly had their stamp of approval. The ridiculous dunk sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Check out the amazing play in the video above.
