Thank goodness for social media.

Blue Jays rookie third baseman Brett Lawrie has reported via his Twitter account that a shooting took place at the Eaton Centre food court.

The first tweet from Lawrie came just before 6:30 p.m. when he wrote, "Pretty sure someone just let off a round of bullets in eaton center mall .. Wow just sprinted out of the mall… Through traffic…"
Lawrie posted photos of the scene outside the mall.

CP24 out of Toronto also tweeted that there were reports of a shooting. They wrote, "BREAKING: Reports suggest that there has been a shooting in the Eaton Centre food court" just after 6:30 p.m.

This is the second shooting at this mall in a decade. The last one came during the holiday season in 2003.

Check out the first photo Lawrie posted. The second photo shows more emergency vehicles on the scene.
