It's a bittersweet time for any hockey fan. While the start of the NHL offseason means there will be plenty of rumors, signings and potential trades, it also means there will be no hockey action for a few months.
The Los Angeles Kings finished off the New Jersey Devils in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup on Monday, meaning they'll be the ones with the targets on their backs next season. Amidst the Cup success, a star was born in goaltender Jonathan Quick, who just may be the best goaltender in the NHL.
NESN.com NHL insider Douglas Flynn caught up with Ricky Doyle to discuss just how good Quick is, and with all things considered, he is undoubtedly the goalie that you'd want to start a franchise with if given the choice.
Flynn and Doyle touched on a number of other topics as well, including Martin Brodeur's future, the Steve Bernier hit in Game 6 and the Bruins' decision to bring back both Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell.
Then, there's the Zach Parise sweepstakes, and potentially the Ryan Suter sweepstakes, which will be two interesting storylines to follow throughout this offseason.
