Robinson Cano, Matt Kemp Named 2012 Home Run Derby CaptainsAfter last year's record-setting performance, Robinson Cano will have a chance to defend his Home Run Derby title.

Along with Matt Kemp, Cano has been named a captain for the 2012 Home Run Derby, with Kemp taking the National League All-Stars and Cano in charge of the AL team. Each captain will select three other participates to join them.

Cano, who hit 32 home runs in the three rounds of the derby last year, will look to duplicate that total and bring the title back to the American League. He currently sits tied for 34th with 8 home runs in the American League, after a slow start. Kemp, on the other hand, got off to a torrid start before a nagging hamstring injury sent him to the disabled list.

The Home Run Derby will take place at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. on July 9. Both Cano and Kemp will be making their second appearances at the Derby.
