Any league that counts Michael Vick, Adam “Pacman” Jones and Donte Stallworth — to name a few — among its ranks is not necessarily the most upstanding league in the world.
But the amount of arrests that have occurred since the Super Bowl, frankly, is staggering.
In the nearly six and a half months that have passed since the Giants barely hung on to defeat the Patriots, 25 NFL players have been arrested for a wide variety of crimes. In other words, a professional football player has been arrested approximately once a week since the beginning of February.
Commissioner Roger Goodell can’t be happy about the negative publicity being brought upon his league, nor the alleged unlawful conduct of his players.
The charges run the gamut from Mikel Leshoure being arrested twice for marijuana possession to several players — including former Patriot Brandon Meriweather and highly touted draft pick Justin Blackmon — being arrested for DUI. Most recently Dez Bryant was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence after he allegedly attacked his mother.
