Doc Rivers Unsure of Ray Allen’s Future in Boston, Might Call John Calipari to Help Recruit Him

Doc Rivers Unsure of Ray Allen's Future in Boston, Might Call John Calipari to Help Recruit HimCeltics coach Doc Rivers sounds like, at best, he has no idea what Ray Allen is going to do in free agency. Rivers does have a plan, however.

Rivers, who told over the weekend that he thought it would be "a stretch" for Allen to do anything but re-sign with the Celtics, sounds like he may be singing a different tune now.

"I don't know," Rivers said on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday when asked if he had any idea which way Allen may be leaning. "We're working hard, and we have a lot of options. It's going to be interesting. I don't have a feel on it. With these things, I usually have a feel, but I don't know."

That doesn't mean Rivers isn't trying to convince Allen to return. He wants the future Hall of Famer back in green, and he's willing to go the extra mile to make that happen.

"[I talked to him] yesterday. I'm going to talk to him today. I'm going to talk to him tomorrow. And I'm going to talk to him the day after."

He's even looking to call in some reinforcements if he needs to.

"I need to call John Calipari, and find out exactly how he does it," Rivers joked in regards to the Kentucky coach's recruiting prowess.

According to a report on, Allen is scheduled to meet with the Miami Heat on Thursday before meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
