Alexander Ovechkin likes to dish out punishment on opposing players. Sometimes he also likes to dish out punishment on an innocent pane of glass.
During a KHL matchup Saturday, Ovechkin laid the hammer on Atlant Moscow forward Alexei Mikhnov near the boards and continued his reign of destruction as he backed into a pane of glass, shattering it on impact.
Ovechkin has dominated in the 11 KHL games he has played this season,
netting four goals and dishing out seven assists — good for a point per
contest. With his display of pure power on Saturday, Oveckin is making a statement that no one is safe from his wrath, not even the actual rink itself.
Ovechkin has apparently enjoyed the KHL so much that he's expressed a
desire to play there after the NHL lockout, even if it means making less
money.
"If contracts get slashed, most players won't return," the Washington Capitals' forward said, according to Slava Malamud of Russia's Sports-Express.
