Report: Yankees-Orioles Fails to Outdraw Jets Loss in TV Ratings, Even in New YorkIf anyone doubted that the NFL is king, Monday night’s TV ratings affirmed the fact.

The Yankees and Orioles were wrapped up in their second tight game in a row, with New York stalwart Andy Pettitte pitching as a vibrant Camden Yards crowd willed the O’s to their first playoff win in 17 years in a game that was close down to the final pitch.

But most of America — and even New York — was apparently watching the long-poor-performing Jets fall to the Texans on Monday Night Football. The Jets, who have lost star cornerback Darrelle Revis and wide receiver Santonio Holmes, are now 2-3 (and that’s even with Tim Tebow playing seven snaps on Monday) and were expected to get crushed by Houston.

John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal reported Tuesday that the lowly Jets blew away the Yankees in both national and local TV ratings.

The Yankees host the Orioles for the final games of the series starting Wednesday in New York, where the Bronx Bombers should apparently breathe a sigh of relief that they and their 27 world championships won’t have to go head-to-head with Rex Ryan and his merry men.

Baltimore, however, did not have the same disappointing results in the ratings, although Orioles fans did not have a dog in the Monday Night Football fight.

The Birds have already beat the Yanks in one respect.
