The Kansas Jayhawks have a huge test this upcoming week — traveling to play No. 7 Kansas State — and not many people expect them to pull off the upset. Especially the school’s student newspaper, The University Daily Kansan.
In Thursday’s edition, football beat writer Blake Schuster wrote a column featured on the front page about Kansas’ slim chances this weekend against the undefeated Wildcats.
As it turns out, head coach Charlie Weis didn’t appreciate that one bit.
Team slammed by our own school newspaper. Amazing! No problem with opponents paper or local media. You deserve what you get! But, not home!
— Coach Charlie Weis (@CoachWeisKansas) October 4, 2012
Weis doesn’t have a solid argument to make anyone think that Kansas can win their next game, as the Jayhawks come in with a 1-3 record and their only win coming against South Dakota State.
Things won’t get much better for Weis, though, as Kansas will travel to play No. 17 Oklahoma after playing Oklahoma St. next week, and then host No. 11 Texas the week after.
If Weis didn’t want his school’s newspaper bashing the team, maybe he should’ve taken the job at a university with a better football team.
