The Chiefs chose not to honor Jovan Belcher publicly prior to Sunday’s game against the Panthers, but that’s not stopping one player from sending out a tribute to his former teammate.
Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe tweeted out a picture honoring Belcher on a t-shirt, dedicating the Chiefs’ 27-21 victory to the linebacker.

The Chiefs also paid tribute to Belcher by keeping his locker intact, according to the USA Today. Due to the specifics of Belcher’s murder-suicide, it could certainly be viewed in poor taste to honor the former Chief.
Details have since come out that Belcher shot his girlfriend nine times before driving to Kansas City’s practice facility and shooting himself in front of head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli. Belcher’s girlfriend, Kasanda Perkins, was cousins with Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles‘ wife.
