Report: Josh McDaniels Will Not Interview for Open Head Coach Positions

Bill Belichick Josh McDanielsUnlike last season, the Patriots will not have an offensive coordinator on the outs this year.

Josh McDaniels is staying on board for now, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. McDaniels informed the Patriots he will not interview for open jobs, though he would like to be a head coach again one day.

With a bye before the playoffs, McDaniels could have interviewed with teams this week before New England’s first postseason game on Sunday, Jan. 13. McDaniels has been linked to the Browns, who fired head coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert on Monday.

McDaniels coached the Broncos in 2009 and 2010, where he accumulated an 11-17 record. He has served as the Patriots’ offensive coordinator this season, after coming on board as an offensive assistant during the 2011-12 playoffs. McDaniels was the offensive coordinator in St. Louis in 2011.
