Josh Beckett has been waiting to see if the numbness in the fingers on his pitching hand will go away. Now he’s being told to wait a bit longer.
Beckett has nerve irritation in his right hand and arm and won’t throw for at least four weeks to try to remedy the problem, Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reports. The issue first arose when Beckett was on the disabled list with a groin strain. He experienced numbness and was soon wondering whether he would ever pitch again.
Beckett has had a rough start to his season in Los Angeles, going 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA before he went on the disabled list in May.
