Joseph Fauria’s ‘N Sync-Inspired Touchdown Dance Done to Garner Attention of Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake (Video)

Detroit Lions tight end Joseph Fauria impressed one member of ‘N Sync with his actions in Week 3, but it wasn’t the headliner he was hoping for.

During Sunday’s Redskins-Lions game, the rookie caught his second-career touchdown pass, and commemorated the moment with an ‘N Sync inspired “Bye, Bye, Bye” touchdown dance. While it easily could’ve been a nice shout-out to perhaps one of his favorite childhood boy bands, it turns out that Fauria had bigger goals in mind.

Former ‘N Sync member Joey Fatone reached out to Fauria on Twitter, complimenting the tight end’s choice in dance moves. Fauria appreciated the kind words, but Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford knows his teammate’s ulterior motives.

“I think it had something to do with some late-night show. I think it was [Jimmy] Fallon,” Stafford told MLive.com. “He and [Justin] Timberlake did a deal, ‘The Evolution of the Touchdown Dance.’ They said that if anybody copied their move and put it in the end zone, they’d put him on the show. So I think he was going for that.”

Turns out that’s exactly what he was going for. Fallon and Timberlake ended their skit with the iconic moves from ‘N Sync, and the late-night host challenged NFL players to do one of the touchdown dances. He offered to put that player on the show and in addition, pay their fines by donating it to a charity of the player’s choice.

Fauria hasn’t received any calls from Hollywood, yet, but he’s not giving up on his endeavor.
